About this space
It’s newly renovated and designed with you, the guest, in mind. With 3 full queen beds, a well stocked kitchen, stone fireplace and 800 square foot deck. You just might find that the Hidden Castle ends up being the reason you came to the High Country after all
The space
The Hidden Castle rests on the top of a peak that is at the base of Grandfather Mountain. From the deck, and every room, you’ll get an up close and personal experience to the classic profile view of the most famous mountain in North Carolina.
This two bedroom one bathroom space sleeps six people comfortably (three queen beds), is home to one of the most unique libraries that you’ve ever laid your eyes on, has a fully stocked kitchen and comes with more castle vibes than you can shake a stick at.
Whether you’re napping on one of the two hammocks, lounging by the firepit in one of the many adirondak chairs, swinging in one of the egg chairs or strolling the grounds, this will be the stay that you will not soon forget.

Guest access
Guests will have access to the entire lower level of the three story castle, including a private patio with its own private hammock.
Guests will also enjoy access to the large shared 800 square foot deck with swinging egg chairs, hammock, fire pit and Adirondack chairs.
Finally, guests will have full access to the surrounding 10 acres, pond and castle grounds. We do encourage long strolls around the property an asphalt loop that serves as a great way to experience evenings and mornings in the High Country.
Other things to note
This space is a part of a larger home and has two different units that can be rented together or separately. This listing represents the unit that is on the lower level. It is its own space that operates as an “apartment” of sorts.
During your stay, there may or may not be other guests staying in the top unit of this building. Should both spaces be rented during your stay, you may encounter other guests on the shared deck with egg chairs and fire pit.
Additionally, the parking area for this space does require a brief stroll of approx 200’.
The Hidden Castle is located in an ideal location. Appalachain State University is just 11 miles from our door. The quaint and highly rated Downtown Banner Elk is just 4 miles away. Grandfather Mountain State Park and the famous swinging bridge is just 8 miles from our door. The famous town of Blowing Rock (voted the best place to view fall colors) is just 17 miles from our door.
Being right off of Hwy 105 means that we have quick and easy access to every thing that the High Country has to offer. Our easy access and proximity to the highway does result in some road noise that some guests may notice.
The driveway is asphalt and accessible year round. Although, during winter weather, it is recommended to arrive in a vehicle that has 4×4 or is equipped with snow chains. When we have winter weather in the forecast, I do my best to communicate with guests to ensure proper preparation and have a safe and easy arrival.
